31 Week Update and Shower Pics

How far along?  31w4d
Total Weight Gain: 13 pounds
How much does baby weigh? I'd say close to 4 pounds, but I have an u/s on Tuesday to find out
Stretch Marks? Nope, but my linea nigra has started to form a bulls eye around my bellybutton...isn't that sweet
Sleep? I wake up at least once a night to pee
Best moment this week: My shower
Movement:  Still active and getting stronger
Food Cravings? I'll pretty much eat anything at anytime.
Labor signs? My cervix has yet to shorten any more as far as I know, I'll find out for sure on Tuesday.  And some BH contractions which are very weird.
Belly button in or out?  Hanging on by a thread
What I miss? Shopping for clothes that do not involve elastic
What I'm looking forward to? Getting all of the loot I got at the shower put together and organized
Milestone: I guess the BH least my body is prepping itself.

The shower was fantastic.  I had a really great time.  The food was delicious, they made sure to get me two vegan trays from my favorite restaurant.  Andy drove all the way to Central Park from Brooklyn to get it for me.  He also bought me a gift to open at the shower, which I didn't expect.  It was a pretty dress that he wants her to come home from the hospital in and a little sippy cup with her name on it.  The card was really sweet.  I almost started crying in front of everyone as I read it.  It was really touching.  For the most part people stuck to the registry and we got all of the big things that we needed which was great.  We got tons of clothes.  Like a ridiculous amount of clothes.  The centerpieces were really awesome too...they were stretchies stuffed with paper so they stood up straight with balloons attached.  I'm going to put a pic of them in.

My house looks like a BRU exploded in it.  There's stuff everywhere.  For the last few days all I've been doing is laundry and trying to organize stuff.  My mom came over last night to help me and we worked for like three hours straight.  All of the clothes and blankets and stuff are put away, the bedding is in, the wall hangings are up, the appliques are on, the jogging stroller, and the regular stroller are assembled, but it doesn't look like we even made a dent.  Little by little we'll be chipping away.

We also went on a hospital tour on Monday.  The hospital is nice.  The L and D rooms are really roomy and we got a lot of great information about breast feeding and paperwork and stuff.  But there was one thing that really upset me.  Men are not allowed to spend the night.  I can have a female spend the night with me, but not a man unless I"m in a private room.  I asked why and they told me because the hospital is in a primarily Hasidic Jewish area that they don't allow overnight male visitors.  Dad's have to leave at 10 pm.  I don't really think that's fair.  If that's their belief then that's fine, just don't put me in a room with them and they won't be offended.  I really wanted him to be there with me at night.
Here are some pics from the shower.

Split Personality

So I've been volleying between two emotions...sheer excitement and sheer terror.  Somedays I'm like "Wow, only 10 more weeks until I'm holding my baby girl" other days it's more like "Holy shit I'm gonna have a baby in 10 weeks."  Somedays it feels like time is flying and some times it feels like I've been pregnant forever and still have a million miles to go.  I blame hormones...which let me tell you, are raging lately.  Sigh.

30 Weeks and My First Bare Belly

How far along?  30 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 11 pounds
How much does baby weigh? 2.5 pounds
Stretch Marks? No and I'm hoping it stays this way
Sleep? Staying asleep isn't hard...but getting comfortable enough to fall asleep is becoming tricky.
Best moment this week: The nursery furniture coming
Movement:  She's moving around like crazy and sometimes she'll jab me in my ribs and it hurts a little.
Food Cravings? Mangos...finally something healthy to eat.
Labor signs? Just the shortening cervix, which looks like it's staying put.
Belly button in or out?  Still flat
What I miss? Bending at the waist.  Seriously, if I drop something on the floor there's a very good chance I'm leaving it there.
What I'm looking forward to? My shower on April exciting
Milestone: Putting in the nursery furniture

Nursery Progress

So the furniture came yesterday...yay!  I took a before and after video for your viewing  pleasure

video   The Before Video

video    The After Video

All we're waiting for now is the border, which Andy promises me will be up this week and the bedding, which we'll get at my shower.   Also, the glider and ottoman needs to be purchased, my parents offered to buy it (if it ever comes back in stock) which is really generous since they bought all of the furniture and are throwing the shower.  I'm so lucky and grateful for them. I can't wait to see it all finished.

3D U/S

I went yesterday for my second, and sadly last, 3D u/s and it was awesome.  She wasn't as cooperative as she was last time.  She kept her arms up above her face so we had to move and jiggle my belly a little bit to get her to move.  She's a little camera shy already, although she definitely doesn't get that from her parents because we ham it up.  Her face has filled out more so she's much less alienesque.  I just want to watch the dvd over and over again.  Here are some of the pics.  The CD had like 85 images on it and I was very tempted to post them all, but here are some of the better shots.

Right now I'm waiting for the delivery dudes to bring her furniture...which means I'm stuck in the house from 1-6 waiting for them to come on a beautiful sunny day grrrr.  Hopefully they'll be here soon and then all we need to do is put up the border and wait for the shower to finish it all up.  I can't believe how much we've accomplished in her room in such a short time.

Update from the Doc

So I just got back from the doctor. Unfortunately not my reg doc, but another one in the practice who is very difficult to understand b/c he has a thick German accent. He gave me the fFn test and an internal u/s. The fFn was no biggie, just like a pap. The internal showed my cervix was still measuring 2.8 cm, which means it hasn't shortened any more since Tuesday, which is very good news. He told me to take it easy and that the results would be in tomorrow for the fFn. He said he would be surprised if it came back positive. When I go back on May 5th my reg doc will check again with an internal u/s and if it's shortened any more I'll have another fFn. He told me that as long as it doesn't shorten to 2.5 cm I'm ok. So at least there's some good news.

My interview went really well. It was with two ladies from the Edison Board of Ed. Unfortunately they don't know what positions are available for next year, so it's still a waiting game. Tomorrow I'm going to start sending out my resume to other school districts near my house.

29 Week Update and Happy Easter

How far along?  29 weeks
Total Weight Gain: 11 pounds
How much does baby weigh? 2.5 pounds
Stretch Marks? Nope
Sleep? I'm on vacation so I've been sleeping much better, and much later too
Best moment this week: Getting the carpet installed (finally)
Movement:  She's still going to town in there, although she's more active later at night.  I've noticed since I'm not going to bed as early.  Hopefully she'll be getting this out of her system now.
Food Cravings? I just crave all food.  I love to eat and I'm perpetually hungry
Labor signs? A shortening cervix (boo)
Belly button in or out?  Still flat and I'm willing it not to pop
What I miss? People attaching an adjective to my name when they compliment me that isn't "cute".  I miss looking "hot", but these days cute is much more what I'm looking like.
What I'm looking forward to? The furniture coming on the 16th and my 3d u/s on the 15th
Milestone: Getting the nursery furniture ready

Well that takes care of the business end of things.  Today was Easter and we had a great day.  We spent the day at my in-laws, which was actually very nice.  I got to see  my two year old niece...she's so fun and next year she'll have a little cousin to play with.  My mother and sister also came (my dad was working overtime).  I ate like a pig so I'll have to make sure I'm good the rest of the week.  Isabella got some very cute baskets.  A big huge book basket from my mom and sister and a basket from my cousin that had a glow worm it it (because the glow worms were awesome for anyone old enough to remember them) and some cute bibs.

So tomorrow is a big day for me.  I have a job interview in Edison New Jersey with the superintendent.  Which is scary and exciting.  The commute from NJ to Brooklyn is really starting to wear me down and I want to be close to home.  And then at 4:20 I have my Fetal Fibronectin test to see if I might go into pre-term labor, I'm also going to ask them to measure my cervix again with a trans vag u/s.  So tomorrow is a nerve wracking day all around for me, so say a prayer if you can.

Sonogram Photo

Here is the sonogram picture of Isabella that my awesome u/s tech snuck me after the transvaginal u/s.  It's a pretty good profile shot of her at 28 weeks 3 days.

It amazes me how much she changes between u/s's.  I can't wait for my 3d one on the 15th!

Scary Doctor's Visit

So I went to the dr today for my monthly check up and since I've had a colpopscopy which resulted in a biopsy and a LEEP, I get my cervical length monitored through transvaginal u/s. Last time everything was fine, but this time the dr told me my cervix has shortened from 3.1 cm to 2.8 cm. This puts me at risk for pre-term labor. I have to go in a week from today for a fetal fibronectin culture. This is a q-tip test that checks for factors of preterm labor. If it tests positive I'll probably have to go on bed rest and if it continues to shorten they'll have to do a cervical stitch. She also told me things to look for that would indicate pre-term labor and said if I experienced any of them to go to the hospital immediately.

I'm just so scared. As much as I love this child inside of me, she needs to cook for at least another 9 weeks minimum. Just pray that the tests come back normal, my cervix doesn't shorten, and Isabella stays put.

On the bright side, I did get to see her again and the tech gave me three pics. Her heart, position, and size (about 2.5 lbs) are all normal. Sure she's great, but I'm having a heart attack.

28 Week Update

So I'm just a little late with my weekly belly pic and survey.  Don't mind my hair in the pic it's raining like crazy here and my umbrella broke so you are seeing the very "in" wet-dog look.  Don't let it distract you though from the ginormous belly.  Isabella felt fit to wake me up 3 times to go to the bathroom last night.  3:30, 4:15, and 5:00.  Crawling out of bed in the dark over a snoogie is no easy feat let me tell you.

I really hate this pic, but I figure I'd post it anyway.

How far along?  28 weeks, 2 days
Total Weight Gain: I'd say around 10lbs, I didn't weigh myself this morning, but I have a dr's appointment tomorrow so I'll find out for sure.
How much does baby weigh? About 2 and a half pounds
Stretch marks? Still no, but I hear they can wait until the very end or even after deliver to crop up.
Sleep? See above...grrrrrr
Best moment this week: Getting to see one of my besties after she got back from a 2 month long visit to Israel.
Movement:  Still kicking away, but I've definitely noticed a slight decrease, but the kick counts are ok so I'm not worried
Food Cravings? McDonald's cheese burgers.  I can't eat them of course
Labor signs? Not one
Belly button in or out? Flat and ugly
What I miss? Having a glass of white wine on the deck with Andy when the weather is nice
What I'm looking forward to? The carpet, which will be coming on Friday (supposedly)
Milestone:  Losing sight of my feet

It's Ok

It's Ok...
  • To spend a beautiful spring day inside catching up on your dvr
  • To have breakfast for dinner
  • To say no just because you don't feel up to something
  • To stay in your pajamas all day
  • To splurge on self-care products, you can't put a price on looking and feeling good
  • To change your mind
  • To plan an outfit around your shoes
  • To feel down
  • To get that nervous laugh at a wake
  • To have dust bunnies under your bed
Sometimes you gotta just lose the guilt, shut up that little voice with it's "to do list" in your head and say it's ok.
