Take What You Can

I've read The Happiest Baby On The Block, Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child, Jo Frost's Confident Baby Care, The No Cry Sleep Solution, and The Baby Book. I swear if you put all of those authors in one room you'd get different advice and different opinions from each one of them. It's enough to drive you batty.

This is what my plan is. Listen to what each one of them have to say, follow what feels right and makes sense and toss what doesn't sit well with you. If I had to pick my favorite it would be The No Cry Sleep Solution because I feel like the author has been there and she knows how hard it is. Since I've put those ideas into practice things have gotten a lot better. Last night she even slept through the night for the first time. 8-6! I feel like I have to AW now while I have the chance!

I think there are as many opinions as there are parents on these things. I'm glad you've found some useful bits of information. I hope you'll pass some of that along to me in a few months!

Congrats on STTN! We are a long way from that, I think...

I hope it starts a pattern for you and Isabella!

I think you are fabulous, and I agree. No child is the same right... so how can there be some cookie cutter answer for these things? Like I can talk cause I have kids... NOPE. It just seems something too hard to imagine. I just am still sooooo in love with the chicks lie post. Anxiously awaiting your next one, and sooo glad she STTN.

Whooo HOOO for STTN! I am soo looking forward to this! DH says we're going out to dinner to celebrate the first time Lilly STTN! You know I bought the Baby Whisperer book... so far I like what I've read and its going better! She is all about the EASY. Eat, activity, sleep, you time during the day.

I think I read a bazillion books for my first child and maybe 2 now that I've had my second. (Of course - that's probably because I've already read EVERY parenting book out there! LOL!) I agree with you. You have to follow your mama intuition first and foremost. And I too felt most comfortable with the No Cry Sleep Solution book, but I don't really remember if the techniques worked or not... I guess I'll have to dig that one back out now that we're battling sleep issues with #2. I guess I didn't learn much from all those books afterall!

Thanks for visiting my blog. It's nice to have visitors from SITS!

Just found your blog and read this post because I have a 2 month who has extremely similar sleep habits as what you wrote about. I'm going a bit batty, so I'm stoked to read on and see how your situation played out.
