A Case of the Particulars

Lately I've noticed some behaviors in Isabella that if I noticed in an adult I would immediately assume that they had OCD and should be medicated. However, since she's just a wee peanut I'm going with she has a case of the particulars.

For example, there was an out and out meltdown the other day and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Until she knocked down her green sippy cup from the table and then she was happy as a clam. You see she didn't want her pink sippy cup, she needed to have her green one.

Then she does this thing with her animal figurines. She has to arrange them so that they are all standing up in a straight line. If one of them falls over, she very calmly fixes it so that it's upright. Then she knocks them all down and starts over.

When she's in her high chair she'll separate her fruits; red on one side and blue on the other. Cheeses or carbs usually go in the middle. If she's eating something on the floor she dumps it off of her plate and then puts it back on and then dumps it out again before she eats it. Every time. She's a character my kid. I'd love to know what's going on in her baby brain.

Hi! I'm a new reader and I used to be a teacher too and I have an 18 month old daughter. How old is yours?

I totally know what you mean about them going crazy over some little thing. and my friend's son is just like your daughter. He lines up all his Thomas trains just so all facing the same direction and God forbid, I knock one over by accident!!

Sounds like she is practicing her sorting and setting up skills. You are right..if adults did what little kids would be a weird world. Funny mental picture.

Have a great weekend!!

A case of the particulars, that's a great way to put it. My daughter has some similar traits.

Found you on Friendly Follow Friday.
