Comments

Comments are like blogger crack.  I mean I'm sure even the big guy bloggers get that little twitch of excitement when they get a notification that someone took the time out of their busy life to respond to your words.  I mean there's no greater rush right?  Conversely, and I can only speak for myself, that when I write a post that I've put a lot of myself into or that asks a question or advice, goes by without a blip it makes me feel bad.

But honestly, you can only get what you put into the world and I've been a big time slacker responding to blog comments and leaving ones of my own.  So I'm making a point to comment more on blogs I love and on new blogs that I'm just discovering.  Also, I'm going to start responding back in the comment section here instead of e-mailing.  I find it to be more fluid.  So if you leave a comment I promise I will respond back in the comment section of this blog.

I've been a bit lazy when it comes to blogging lately.  I haven't participated in any meme's, I've been dormant on twitter, and I haven't been sitting down to really put time into it.  Therefore I have no one to blame but myself for my lowering stats (even though I swore I was going to give up obsessing over stats).  I do get blog envy for some of those big gun bloggers, but I'm trying to learn from them instead of just wishing a computer virus on them.

So now is the time to pipe up and comment, I promise I'll write back.  No more neglectful blogging here.

I love getting comments. They beyond make my day! I have been trying to be better about replying... and of course, leaving comments on other people's blogs can't hurt either!

You are so right! It's the first thing that I check.... did somebody out there read my blog??? and if someone left a comment I'm super excited.
Needless to say my man and my non-blogging friends just don't get this, how strange are they not!

I hear you - comments on posts make my day. I always get that "wow, someone's actually reading" feeling when I see them appear. And I absolutely get blog envy for some of the big dogs, too. ;)

I recommend installing Disqus for comments. Not only are comments/replys threaded but both you AND the commenter get notifications of new responses. LOVE IT.

Comments make bloggers feel validated I think. First that someone is actually reading you and second that they can relate or can offer a different perspective.

@Mel...I'll have to check that out. I've definitely seen it on people's blogs before.

I feel ya. But you are WAY ahead of me in the blogging game, so don't feel too down on yourself! I just try to tell myself that really, I'm blogging for ME and nobody else... but, deep down there is still the "big dog" envy going on. :-) Hmmmmm... I'll have to check out that Disqus.

I worked with a couple bloggers on a funny video about comments, you should check it out, we totally spoof ourselves :)

Hey, did my last comment go through? I feel like it disappeared. I agree. Comments = blogger crack - comments from trolls.

@Ariel - Don't sell yourself short...I love your blog.

@Melinda - that video is hilarious!

@titlessblog - it must not have went through. I don't moderate comments. Thanks for my fix ;)

What's even more awesome is when I get comments from someone I don't "know". (ie: Not my mom, sister, or friend who I have pretty much begged to read my blog and guilted them into following it via email)
Stranger comments is the best! :)
